Generix’ Take on the Topic

As organizations navigate new paradigms of change in the aftermath of COVID-19, there is no question that “Enabling Warehousing Resiliency” has become a key strategic initiative for companies wanting to do more than survive, but rather thrive, in these challenging times.

At the heart of the resilient distribution center is the technology platform that provides for the automation of warehouse operations. This is accomplished with the warehouse management system (WMS). Organizations that have not previously deployed a robust WMS are now considering the advantages of doing so in response to the changes brought about the pandemic.

The WMS enables warehouse operators and distributors to address head-on the changing nature of digital commerce post-COVID-19, which has collapsed the time and distance between customers and the rest of the supply chain. The WMS typically integrates dock and yard management, returns and labor management, quality management, among other features.
