Analog Devices Inc. was established in 1965 to solve the engineering challenges associated with signal processing in electronic equipment. In those 55 years ADI has become a world leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of high-performance analog, mixed signal, and digital signal processing equipment to over 100,000 customers. You can find their innovative electrical devices throughout the industrial, automotive, communication, and

Challenges Facing ADI

As a manufacturer of a wide range of products, ADI is required to upgrade and maintain their machines. This leaves them with a large quantity of spare parts that constantly circulate throughout the warehouse.

Before ADI decided to use Generix Groups WMS software the warehouse was primarily run manually. Meaning, the warehouse workers would have to manually track inventory as it moved through the warehouse and all information was individually entered into an excel Spreadsheet. This led to confusion throughout the warehouse about the location, condition, and version of each spare part.

A secondary problem facing ADI was the unique nature of their manufacturing equipment. With specialized equipment they could not simply transition to any WMS. ADI required a WMS that was customizable enough to integrate to their manufacturing equipment and order implementation system.

The Results of WMS Implementation

With the implementation of Generix Groups Solochain WMS, ADI was now capable of tracking all inventory locations and movements in real time. Workers no longer had to waste time manually tracking and inputting data but could easily and swiftly locate and track any changes to their inventory. As a result, warehouse productivity skyrocketed, and less inventory was lost leading to significant savings.

Not only did the WMS allow ADI to manage and track the inventory in their warehouse more efficiently, but the flexibility of the WMS allowed them to optimize and consolidate picking methods. To further optimize the warehouse, managers had access to data that tracked orders from beginning to end. Over time the data can be used to map out better storage, picking and order methods.

An added benefit to switching from manual to WMS is the happiness of the employees. Users reported being happier at work. They no longer had to spend their days memorizing warehouse locations and inventory numbers but could now just focus on completing the task in front of them.

What did ADI think?

After Go-live, the Generix Customer Success team used customized KPI reports to provide additional training and system configurations

We spoke with Thomas Ryan, stockroom group lead at ADI, about his impression of Solo chain WMS and he said “The support was good – they were right on it, they replied promptly. Didn’t take too long. They were very helpful too – any questions I had I could call or e-mail them at any time. They would always find the answer.”
